Sunday Report

His Excellency ran a good race to be 6th after making a mistake at the second last. Bishopsfurz looked outclassed and his jumping was poor. My main bet of the day Champagne Agent just about held on for a good win. Todays profit was 10.5pts which makes up for a poor day yesterday.

The Current score in the Pricewise Challenge is, Pricewise -4 Longshotvalue +21.1, but its early days yet.

Champagne Agent has been a disappointing horse so far, but even so this race looks to be a step down in class from some of his runs earlier this year. He has been given a decent break and if that can revitalise him the currently available 7.0 on Betfair is going to look far too big. There doesn’t look to be anything hugely promising in this race so I’m going to give him another chance at a decent price for once, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he shortened considerably in price nearer the race.

Bishopsfurze, has to step up considerably in class and improve his jumping but could still have a decent bit of improvement in him. He is overpriced here mainly because he is the Mullins second string. I wasn’t that impressed with the favourites run last time as to my eye he looked a bit slow in the finish and could get caught out on this good ground. Ratlin looks the main danger as he also didn’t run at the festival and should be better on good ground. Ill have a small min bet at 32 on Betfair as id have him more of a 16/1 shot here.

.5 pt win Betfair 32

His Excellency ran an eye-catching race in the Triumph at the festival when left with far too much to do, he ran on really well despite not having the best of passages into a decent 8th place. The step up in trip here should really suit along with the good ground, which he is more or less proven on after that run. Most of the rest of the field have yet to run on good ground and with his 4yo allowance in play here he looks well overpriced at 33/1 with Bet365.

Johannes: There is a fair bit of indications that today could be this selections best chance of justifying plenty of support by me in the past to no avail. He has ran well on numerous occasions in the last year or two without winning, but does have a very good record fresh and is of his lowest mark for a very long time, despite the fact that he finished last year with 2 very good runs. My gut feeling is that hell be supported today and the 16/1 EW available with Boyles & Ladbrokes should be taken.

1 pt EW 16/1 Boyles & Ladbrokes

I’m going to go with two other small selections in the same race at big prices on Betfair as in my view they are both in with a chance on best form. Damika is down to a very workable mark and at a big price would have a chance here if ready at what looks a big 38 on Betfair. In addition No Hubris has run well fresh every time and although he generally runs over 7f he is too big a price for one that could still have some untapped potential of this mark.

Damika .5 pt win Betfair 38

No Hubris .5pt win Betfair 65 1pt Place Betfair 11.5
