16:15 Chester Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Conditions Stakes

I just can’t resist having a small bet on Borderlescott in this race tomorrow. Although he has been poor enough this year, before his first race the trainer made it obvious that it was going to take a couple of runs to get him right as they were taking it easy on him after his injury last year. He has a good record at the track, and although he will need luck in running “as will everyone else really” I think the 10/1 available at the moment is value. Any semblance of a return to form will give him a superb chance here.

Blue Jack is going to make me break every rule about Chester, he’s got a wide draw in a 5 Furlong Race, but in my eyes he looks to have been coming back to form this year and I’m sure there is a win in him soon of his current mark. He is back down to below his last handicap win and if he can get some luck in running he will be finishing fast and at his current odds of 16.5 on Betfair its worth the risk of a min bet.

Ajaan, looks to be well overpriced tomorrow. He had 2 very good runs last year particularly in the context of this race a very good 3rd in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Ascot. This was run on soft ground and the ground will be softer than usual here tomorrow. He has run 2nd in this race before and additionally has a very decent record fresh. The extra few pounds he has come down the handicap will only help and as much as I love Overturn the softer ground will not be to his liking tomorrow. I’m also going for a small bet on Address Unknown as he has plenty of ability which he hasn’t shown since he has changed stables, but I’m hoping that he may improve again after a slightly better run a last time out in a decent race.

Al Muheer Finally came good for me after following him for a while, with a nice win at 14/1 for a 2point bet. Ill be updating the stats later on but it more than makes up for a poor weekend.

Al Muheer is a horse I’ve been following for a while as he has careered down the handicap. He won an Ascot Handicap for me a couple of years a go at a huge price so he doesn’t owe me anything, but he did have one win last year of only 1 lbs lower than today, and has in the past won of 15lbs higher. I think his last run was eye-catching as he travelled well and got badly held up near the finish. He wouldn’t have won but it looks to me as if he could be coming to hand, and if so the current 14/1 in a few places including Boyles will look great value.

Callisto Moon is one of my favourite horses to follow, he has decent form on the flat over hurdles and jumps. He comes here after a long break from the flat but he has been on form over jumps with a very decent win in a novice chase. Although he has a poor last run over fences to overcome, he has dropped so far on his flat mark from winning of 85 2 years ago at this time of the year to a mark of 67 today. His jumps rating is at an all time high of 127. He even has some half decent AW form in the past and 10/1 in this race looks very big.

15:50 Newmarket Qatar Racing Handicap

Waffle is one of my favourite sprinters but he can be frustrating at the best of times. He clearly has a good win in him at some stage but his running style can work against him. Although there is a huge field here the massive track will hopefully help him find a path trough. He caught the eye last time out again as he has done a number of times, and ill have to select him a few times until he finally gets trough with an inevitable win. 16/1 with Boyles looks a bit of value considering he likes softer ground and is sure to be flying at the finish.

I’m also going to go with one at the other side of the draw in Valery Borzov. He got back to form somewhat last year with a couple of wins and is still reasonably well handicapped on his old form. He has the Visor back on today and likes softer ground. He looks a huge price at 70 on Betfair and well worth a min bet with a decent amount in his favour if he can leave a poor seasonal reappearance behind him.

Waffle 1 Point win 16/1 Boyles

Valery Borzov ½ Win Betfair 70

15:15 Newmarket Qipco 1000 Guineas Stakes

Discourse left a very good impression on her second run last year, and looked an ideal candidate for this race. The fact the Frankie has deserted her has possibly made her a small bit of value. It can be hard to know with fillies from one run to the next and in a race with the favourite so short she looks the most likely of the remainder to be a star in the making. 13.5 on Betfair looks worth a small bet.

1 Point win 13.5 Betfair

14:05 Newmarket Qipco Supporting British Racing Handicap

Sandusky has proven form of softer ground and of the two stable mates he looks the more likely to be suited by this test today. He is of a very enticing mark of 88 and although Frankie has again hopefully chosen wrong, this race has the look of one of the two unexposed Godolphin horses winning this on the way to better things. 8.4 on Betfair looks a small bit too big.

1 Point win 8.4 Befair

A poor day yesterday with only Very Good Day and Mon Brav running well into places. Hamish ran a strange race when he was up with the pace dropped out and came again at the finish, he might be a bit of value next time if that has put him right.

14:00 Newmarket, Makfi Suffolk Stakes

Askaud ran an eye-catching race on the Lincoln when 6th of 2 lbs higher than today. She looked there as if a step up in trip would suit and is an eye watering 8 lbs better off with Fury who is 8 times her price. She has acted well on softer ground last year, and although she was poor in her last run on very heavy going at Epson, that can be excused. 40/1 is most certainly overpriced and she seems sure to be more like a 20/1shot.

1pt EW 40/1 Stan James Sporting Bet

3:45 Newmarket Pearl Bloodstock Palace House Stakes

Hamish McGonagall is one of the most consistent sprinters in training, and the highest rated horse in this race. He has in the past improved for his first run and has acted on softer ground on a good few occasions. Although the Favourite Mayson looks to be a potential improver he still has a bit to do to come up to this mark and I think the prices are wrong here. The selection is available at 9.2 on Betfair and although it’s a tough race he’s the favourite in my book.

2 pts win 9.2 Betfair.

3:30 Goodwood Betfred Mobile Sports Handicap

Very Good Day has been a selection of mine a couple of times last year without success, but in this race today off his nice lower mark of 85, I think he stands a great chance of getting involved. He ran a very good race in what turned out to be a very good stayers race at Ascot last year, and I think the step back in trip to 1m 6f today will suit him better. That race was on softer ground and today’s conditions should suit him.  To me it looks a very open race and he seems to have as good a chance as any of the lower priced horses in front of him in the betting. 12.0 on Betfair looks a bit of value.

1pt win 12.0 Betfair

3:20 Thirsk Follow totepool On Facebook And Twitter Handicap

Mon Brav has looked to me on a few occasions that the step up in trip might just suit him. He is down to a very decent looking mark of 83 and has run well on seasonal debut a few times. He is sure to act on the softer ground and has a record of 2 from 2 at the course. My gut feeling is that hell be supported later on today and the 15.5 available on Betfair is going to look good value nearer the race.

1pt win 15.5 Betfair

Kentucky Derby Daddy Long Legs

Obviously I know nothing about American racing, but Daddy Long Legs was extremely impressive in winning the UAE Derby last month and I think he is being well underestimated here. He is a game tough animal and that kind of resolution can pay dividends in this notably tough race. He was very poor at the course last year in the Breeders Cup and that is probably the reason for his big price, but if he can reproduce that last run here hell have a decent chance at the big price.

1pt Win 25/1 Bet365

4:30 Thirsk Hunt Cup Handicap

Kingscroft is a consistent horse who has plenty of wins behind him. He looked to be getting back to for last time here in a 7f contest and given that he gets 8 no problem and 87 should be a workable mark for him I think the 25/1 available is too big to ignore. He has won of 88 and has won on softer going.

1pt EW 25/1

16:00 Musselburgh Snow Bay

Snow Bay is down to his last winning mark, and if he can improve for his half decent seasonal reappearance in a better quality race, he has a great chance here at a decent price. He had a good win here last year over 1 furlong further and went on to have a great few months where he ran well up to a mark 10lbs higher than today. 12/1 looks a bit of value.

1 Pt win 12/1 various
