Aintree Grand National Quiscover Fontaine

Quiscover Fontaine is one I hadn’t taken any notice of until this morning. In last years Irish Grand National he stayed on really well into 4th place. He is 14lbs better of with the winner Organisedconfusion and has been given a Hurdle race preparation for this which signals that this is his target all season. He looks as sure to stay as anything and 66/1 with 5places in Stan James does look very good.

Aintree Grand National Weird Al

Weird Al is one that again seems to be a bit of a forgotten horse. If we take out both his runs at Cheltenham his record is exceptionally good, and a lot of horses simply don’t act there. He got about ½ way in the gold cup apparently with a broken blood vessel which is hardly ideal, but I don’t think he would be in here at all if the trainer didn’t think he was back to form. As with a lot of the Horses near the top of the handicap he is a few pounds well in. His 3rd behind Kayto Star & Long Run looked to me to be his best run ever. He tends to travel well and could easily be suited to this race. He also has the advantage of being with the stable that knows more about what’s needed here than anyone else. 66/1 with 5 places looks worth a small ew bet.

Aintree Friday Report & Challange Update

Poor day yesterday Frankie Figg missed the start and appeared to be going well until a mistake 3 out. Both in the Hurdle ran ok but didn’t get a great run trough and might do something soon enough. -4.5 points yesterday Pricewise had no luck either. The Challenge now stands at Pricewise -10 LongshotValue +16.10.

Aintree Grand National Black Apalachi

Black Apalachi has a great record around the course and I’m surprised he is drifting in price this morning. The overnight rain wont do him any harm, and although he does look high enough in the weights 50/1 EW with 5 places at StanJames is defiantly the wrong price. He came back after 2 years off and ran a great race to be second to former favourite Prince De Beauchene, with good horses behind and given some improvement from that run he’ll more than likely give anyone that backs him a great run for their money.

16:15 Aintree Poole Master

Poole Master is somewhat overlooked in this race mainly because things didn’t go his way in the Coral Cup at the Festival. He ran up a sequence before that and on his second last run beat a decent Nicky Henderson horse. In my eyes (and the handicappers) there isn’t much between him and the likes of Gullinbursti who is far shorter. He is currently 75 win 15 place on Betfair and looks worth a small bet at those odds.

Aintree Grand National Planet of Sound

Planet of Sound seems to be the completely forgotten horse of this race. He has a lot going for him here. The ground has come up good or near it which will be perfect for him. This year he has had two very good runs and has been kept for this since. 2nd in the Hennessy of 2lbs higher really looks to confirm his wellbeing in my eyes. I don’t know how he isn’t in the 16-20/1 range and ill happily take 33/1 EW with 5 places which is on offer nearly everywhere. There is 40/1 with 4 places on Will Hill but I like the extra place in this race.

1pt EW 33/1 5 places.

15:05 Aintree Kalahari King

Kalahari King has been very poor this year, but he tends to blow hot or cold anyway and has plenty of times in the past come back from poor runs to top class, last years Ryanair being one example. He made a bad mistake in this years ryanair, and had nothing at the finish, but Aintree is a great place for shocks and given his decent course form and the chance that he can suddenly get back to form I think the 42 on Betfair is worth a small bet. Albertas Run will be hard to beat but he looks short enough and Poquelin is solid but he always seems to find a few too good in these Grade 1’s.. This is a bit of a shot in the dark on Gut feeling but probably worth a min bet.

½  Point win 42 Betfair

16:50 Aintree Orsippus & Ski Sunday

Orsippus is one I’ve had in mind for a race here all year. His last 2 races have been eye-catching enough. He has won at the meeting before, and has proved he can handle this mark as he was 3rd in the Coral Cup last year of the exact same mark. I think the 22 available on Betfair is worth a bet, as he looks sure to get competitive here.

1 Point win 22 Betfair

Ski Sunday is a bit of a shot in the dark as I had tipped him at Cheltenham but he fell early on. He has decent course form being 2nd in the Grade 1 4yo a few years ago. He has shot down the weights this year and has a good jockey on for the first time tomorrow. Gut feeling more than anything tells me he might just improve here at a big price. Ill go for a small bet at 40/1 and 5places.

15:40 Aintree Frankie Figg

Frankie Figgs day is more than likely tomorrow after a somewhat disappointing season. Looking at the race he does stand out as being on a good mark, with course & distance form. The stable is really firing now and it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see him back to his best in what has to be assumed has been his target all season. He is on exactly the same mark with which he won the Grand Sefton 2 years ago. He’s had a nice break from his last run, and 11/1 with Will Hill could look very good value tomorrow as I would fully expect him to be backed into favourite here. In addition he is only carrying 10:03 and with a lot of the field out of the weights, it all seems to stack up in his favour.

1 Point win 11/1 Will Hill

Aintree Day 1 Update

A decent day with my biggest bet Menorah winning well advised at 11/2. I was a bit dissapointed with Oiseau De Nuit as i had a fair amount on misplaced confidence in him but still 7 point profit from the day is good any day.

The Pricewise challange score now stands at Pricewise -7 LongshotValue + 20.6
