Sunday Report

His Excellency ran a good race to be 6th after making a mistake at the second last. Bishopsfurz looked outclassed and his jumping was poor. My main bet of the day Champagne Agent just about held on for a good win. Todays profit was 10.5pts which makes up for a poor day yesterday.

The Current score in the Pricewise Challenge is, Pricewise -4 Longshotvalue +21.1, but its early days yet.

As suggested earlier https://longshotvalue.com/2012/04/07/irish-grand-national-5/  I think Shakervilz  represents very decent EW value tomorrow. Im going to add another 1 pt EW at 40/1 with Paddy Power Paying 5 places. He was 7th last year running on well, has 3lbs lower tomorrow and a 7lbs claimer witha very good record on.

Champagne Agent has been a disappointing horse so far, but even so this race looks to be a step down in class from some of his runs earlier this year. He has been given a decent break and if that can revitalise him the currently available 7.0 on Betfair is going to look far too big. There doesn’t look to be anything hugely promising in this race so I’m going to give him another chance at a decent price for once, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he shortened considerably in price nearer the race.

2 Points win 7.0 Betfair

Bishopsfurze, has to step up considerably in class and improve his jumping but could still have a decent bit of improvement in him. He is overpriced here mainly because he is the Mullins second string. I wasn’t that impressed with the favourites run last time as to my eye he looked a bit slow in the finish and could get caught out on this good ground. Ratlin looks the main danger as he also didn’t run at the festival and should be better on good ground. Ill have a small min bet at 32 on Betfair as id have him more of a 16/1 shot here.

.5 pt win Betfair 32

His Excellency ran an eye-catching race in the Triumph at the festival when left with far too much to do, he ran on really well despite not having the best of passages into a decent 8th place. The step up in trip here should really suit along with the good ground, which he is more or less proven on after that run. Most of the rest of the field have yet to run on good ground and with his 4yo allowance in play here he looks well overpriced at 33/1 with Bet365.

I’m going to suggest a small win bet on Shakervilz for this at what seems an unbelievable price on betfair at the moment. He is 65 to win, and finished a staying on 7th last year. He has a very decent hurdles run behind Voler le Vedette in December this year, and also was putting up a very good performance against Saludos over too short until falling late on. Ill suggest 1/2 a point at that price to win and ill probably add and EW bet with 5 places later.

.5 Points win 65 Betfair

Shocking day, report to follow

About as poor a day as could be expected really, with no selections really running well at all apart from maybe Cocozza who could nab one of these mile races soon enough. -7 points in total. Pricewise had a winner yesterday in Thimaar to close the gap in the challange Pricewise -3 Longshotvalue +10.6.

Cocozza: I like the idea that this one was heavily punted for the Lincoln last week. He has some very decent Irish form last year, and possibly the Lincoln didn’t suit with the huge amount of runners. He ran far too keen to have anything left and this race might just suit better. He is one of the most unexposed runners in the race and the stable is in cracking form the 14/1 with Stan James looks a decent bet.

Deal Done has the look of the type of horse I like in this race. He ran well last year of 1lbs higher having lead to 2 out but got tired in the finish, possibly having had a hard enough race at Cheltenham as well, when he finished a very good 3rd to Junior. He has had an eye opening preparation for this race in that he has had only 1 run in a hurdle and hopefully that is to keep his good mark for a big performance. 40/1 with Coral looks way to big and well worth a bet.

1pt EW 40/1 Coral

An Ghalanta: This selection has some very good 2yo form having raced against some of the stars of last year at various times. He has a good 5f listed win at the Curragh, and some excellent placings, including a 3rd behind Born to Sea, which looked particularly good in that he really stuck his neck out and rallied despite leading from the start. He looks well overpriced on Betfair at 30 win and 7 place and if he can get to the lead here he stands a great chance of placing at least.

1pt win 1 pt place Betfair 30/7
