King George Ante-post

King George Ante-post

Thistlecrack caught the eye hugely yesterday in terms of the King George. I think he ran a remarkable race when he clearly didn’t jump as well as he could (possibly due to the fences), but stayed on really strongly at the end under a possibly tender enough ride. He will surely improve for that and no matter what way I look at it he looks a very likely winner of the King George. Might Bite should be his main treat but he was really poor yesterday. Unless it’s soft the race should be too quick for Native River and nothing else stands a chance unless Bristol De Mai can show up here as well as Haydock. Ill happily back the 16/1 available in Paddy Power every time I pass a shop between this and the race. In Fact any of the General 12/1 available will do for me.

Milrow Caught the eye traveling well last time and is back to a mark he was a very good second in a better race last year. I think he will get close enough here at a huge price. He’ll be getting near a stone from everything

Marracudja is back to his best trip, of a decent mark and I wouldn’t be surprised if today was the plan for a while. 16/1 looks a bit of value

When I first looked at this race I thought I had found one of the bets of the season already. On subsequent looks in reality this is one of the best handicaps I’ve seen in a number of years. I’ll still go with my selection for this all week Romain De Senam. He was 5th in this last year on probably unsuitable soft ground of 7lbs higher. He has 2 runs already this season which should set him right for this and I would have him quite short to place here. The 7 places in paddy is huge value for this horse in particular.

An easy Pick here in Nakeeta, who has to have a great chance of getting involved from a better draw this year on a good mark and at a huge price. Another that interested me at a price is Ventura Storm. He caught the eye in the Caulfield Cup, and won his last start. He was top class in the UK and seems well treated here.
